The Company of Wolves (1984)

In a lush forest of fairytale trees, where the air is moist with magic and dreams murmuring to each other creates a soothing buzz in the constant dusk, there be monsters.

Magnificent monsters.

Contrary to what the poster might have you believe however, this is not a horror movie. It's a children's movie for adults, mixing together more or less well known stories from the brothers Grimm and others.

But the star of the movie is neither of its characters nor stories, but the universe in which they are allowed to relish. The beautiful backwoods backdrop is created with such care and attention to detail, they don't look like sets, but moonstruck paintings.

The Company of Wolves is the fairytale of fairytales.
