Delicatessen (1991)

The phrase "visionary director" is often thrown around, but never was it more appropriate than when talking about Jean-Pierre Jeunet. He's the same guy who made oddities like The City of Lost Children as well as the beautiful Amélie. Delicatessen was his directorial debut, and arguably still his best.

It's a weird kinda post-apocalyptic comedy, about a strange apartment complex and the cannibals who live there. Not only is it very funny, but it’s made like a cabaret show, filled with murder, love and absurd musical numbers.

Truly one of a kind.
