Candyman (1992)

Candyman is ridiculously advertised as "The scariest movie since Silence of the Lambs."

Actually, it's a love story. And a both beautiful and intelligent one at that.

For this is certainly not just another "screaming-girl-running-from-a-scary-man"-flick, no! Instead, it tells a gripping Pandora's Box-story, of sacrifice and immortal love.

Beautifully shot, amazingly scripted, hypnotic acting (the star, Virginia Madsen, was actually hypnotized for real during some scenes of this film) and the music... oh, the music.

Based on a story by the great Clive Barker, and scored by the legendary Philip Glass, this is a film to soothe sore bones.

At least that's what I see.

Maybe it's just a screaming girl running from a scary man.
