Born Into Brothels: Calcutta's Red Light Kids (2004)

What a wonderful mixture of horrible reality and beautiful art this documentary is.

And it all came out of a very simple idea:

What happens when you give photo cameras to children of prostitutes?

It all works on so many levels, and ends up in a film that is horrible and astonishing, interesting and revolting, real and unbelievable, stunning and sad, colorful and black and white, and tremendously inspiring, all at the same time.

See it alone, or together with a person you care about. The film might make you gloomy, but you will be glad you are.
