House of Sand and Fog (2003)

This is melancholy movie magnificence at its finest.

Ben Kingsly cannot help be less than brilliant, the characters are rich and multi-dimensional, and the script could not be any more perfect. The soundtrack, though not very prominent, effectively underlines the mellow mood throughout, all filmed with a slight sepia tint.

It's by no means a feel good movie, but the fact that it doesn't try to be works in its favor, and you'll be left with a fuzzy feeling.

I'd highly recommend it as a cuddly couple's movie, to watch while you are waiting for winter.
