The Beyond (1981)

Italian horror is a genre that requires a big heart in the chest of its audience.

The stories are often laughable, the effects amateurish, the characters usually share a single dimension amongst themselves and are all sloppily dubbed. Don't even bother searching for reason, logic or explanation to nonsensical endings.

It's all very silly, really.

But, when it comes to flesh eating zombies, skin etching scenes and eye piercing images of gore, backed by outstanding soundtracks; the genre stands unrivaled.

Lucio Fulchi was one of the generals of Italian splatter cinema, and The Beyond is his masterpiece.

Leave your brain at the door when watching this film, or else the zombies will eat you alive.
